It appears that 1) Lafite in China did not release in 2015 as expected in the case. Up till 2018, the wine still was not released, signaling the difficulty and challenges of producing wine in a region with relatively unknown land, operations, and government relations.
Additionally, the local investment partner that Lafite had CITIC exited the investment in January 2018, before the wine was released. This also shows concerns about the wines to be released, as well as the future of Lafite China.

Building on the topic of Lafite, I was curious about the actual estates in Bordeaux and how they looked like.
ReplyDeleteGeneral information can be found in DBR website (http://www.lafite.com/en/chateau-lafite-rothschild/). As we know, visits can only be done by appointment and a thing that surprised me is that you can't make purchases in the property.
Overall comments and reviews of visits to the chateaux (specifically I looked into Chateaux Lafite Rothschild) are incredibly positive. The pictures show the beauty of the vineyards and the spectacular circular cellars inspired by Greek theatre. One of the reviews that I liked the most is the following one:

I look forward to someday visiting vineyards in Bordeaux and will definitely include Chateaux Lafite Rothschild as my top priority.
